The absence of friends (The Good Companions, Brighton)
This painting is of one of the nooks in The Good Companions pub in my home town of Brighton. It’s a place where I’ve shared many a happy time with dear friends, laughing, reminiscing and generally putting the world to rights. I painted this in 2021 during one of the Covid lockdowns when all hospitality venues were closed and people weren’t allowed to meet up. In many ways, this was my reflection on how much I missed my friends.
