My Paintings can now be seen at Greenfinch, Ticehurst, Kent

Delighted to announce that some of my paintings can now be seen (and purchased!) from the wonderful Greenfinch in Ticehurst, Kent.

about Greenfinch

Greenfinch is a relaxed, informal gallery space showcasing artists and makers from Sussex and Kent.

The aim is to offer an eclectic mix of locally made pieces spanning a wide price range, with something for everyone. The artwork, ceramics, sculpture and jewellery change approximately every 3 months, so there’s always something new to see.

Greenfinch is set in the heart of the beautiful village of Ticehurst, close to the East Sussex/Kent border and only half an hour from Tunbridge Wells, Hastings, Cranbrook and Mayfield. This small village punches well above its weight, with a selection of independent shops and businesses including Ruston House Interiors, Buy The Weigh, The Old Haberdashery, The Art Bunch florist, Greedy Goat café and not forgetting the ever-popular pubs The Bell in Ticehurst and the Bull Inn.

I was delighted to be contacted by Jane Tritton, the inspiration behind Greenfinch a short time ago. Jane expressed her enthusiasm for my paintings and invited me to have some of them in her shop/gallery space.

What you can expect to see from me…

I shared a range of available paintings with Jane from which she selected some that were to be supplied framed, and some that were to be supplied mounted for display in browsers.

Here are the paintings that Jane selected:

It was only after pulling together this list of images that I realised Jane had asked for a painting that I haven’t even shared here yet! I think I painted it during a period when there were lots of other things going on and I just didn’t get around to posting it!

The inspiration came from a dear friend who shared a photograph she’d taken of a view of Pamukkale‘s UNESCO World Heritage Site in Turkey. As soon as I saw it I was keen to use it as a basis for a painting. As I’ve not shared it here before, here’s a larger-scaled image:

This was one of the paintings that I supplied framed and, though I say it myself, I was pleased with how it looked mounted and framed.

My work will be at Greenfinch until the end of the year so should you find yourself in the vicinity, please do pop in. My paintings aside, there really is an amazing collection of work on display – and certainly, something for everyone in the all-important run-up to Christmas.

Needless to say, I’m delighted to have been approached by Jane and can now only keep my fingers crossed that Jane’s faith in my work is rewarded with the odd sale!

    1. Hi Brian and thanks so much for this. Any feedback will be interesting and any sales would be even better! (It certainly felt like quite an affluent area so I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed!)

  1. So your fame has spread across the border into Kent. That’s almost international! Well done and well deserved, John. I hope this is the beginning of big things… A very pleasing painting, too, (but it lacks a stray dog).

    1. Thanks so much for this Rob and yes, I’m aiming for global domination one county at a time! It’s certainly nice to know that my paintings are ‘out there’ without me having to be out there with them!

  2. A lovely group of paintings John , congratulations on having so many selected for the exhibition!
It has been great seeing your development . I recognise Louise’s photo , a good choice .
    Best Wishes, Polly

I'd love to hear any thoughts you have about this
